When I was pregnant with Simeon, I spent countless hours researching baby products. As a first-time mom, I wanted to make thoughtful purchases and invest in items that would truly support his development rather than cluttering our home with toys that would only hold his attention for a few minutes.

I’ll admit that at first I was skeptical. The subscription isn’t exactly inexpensive, and I wondered if a box of baby toys could really be worth the investment. After all, babies seem perfectly content playing with burp cloths, their own feet, and random household objects.

Now that we’ve been using Lovevery Play Kits for the past three months and Simeon is approaching four months old, I finally feel like I can give an honest review.

The Looker Play Kit Review (0-12 Weeks)

The first kit we received was The Looker, which is designed for newborns through approximately twelve weeks of age (although even now at almost 4 months he’s still enjoying many of the toys). The focus of this kit is helping babies develop visual skills, body awareness, and early sensory exploration.

Look at Me Ladybug

Without question, this immediately became one of Simeon’s favorite toys, and still is.

The Ladybug slowly click-clacks down its track in a rhythmic soothing manner, gently encouraging babies to visually follow movement. Lovevery designed it to support visual tracking skills during tummy time.

By the time we got the Lady Bug, Simeon was already a tummy time pro, as I had started him doing it as soon as was recommended by his pediatrician (around 2 weeks). However, he was growing extremely bored with it and would start fussing right away. He used to love tummy time but was actually regressing in the amount of time spent in it. I tried everything to re engage him. Nothing worked until the Lady Bug came along! Now he stays in tummy time three times as long and absolutely cracks himself up watching her move.

Even now, approaching four months old, Simeon remains fascinated by it. Watching his eyes follow the movement from top to bottom and now noticing him try to grab for it, has been one of those small but exciting reminders of just how quickly babies learn and grow.

The Mobile

The mobile includes high-contrast images specifically designed for newborn vision. Since newborns initially see only a limited range of colors and focus best on high-contrast patterns, this quickly became a favorite thing to watch right before drifting off to nap time.

Sensory Links

These simple linking rings may not look exciting at first glance, but they proved surprisingly versatile.

We used them to attach toys, create new visual experiences, and provide opportunities for grasping and sensory exploration.

Simple Black & White Card Set

These cards were some of the first things that truly captured Simeon’s attention.

Newborns are naturally drawn to high-contrast images, and I was amazed at how long he would focus on these cards during tummy time and quiet alert periods.

Standing Card Holder

This may be one of the most underrated items in the kit. Instead of trying to hold cards while encouraging tummy time, the holder allowed me to position them directly in Simeon’s line of sight. It made tummy time more engaging and helped extend sessions when he was otherwise ready to quit.

Complex Black, White & Red Card Set

As Simeon’s vision developed, these cards provided the next level of visual stimulation.

Introducing more complex patterns and the color red kept things interesting while continuing to support visual development.

Black & White Mittens

These mittens encourage babies to notice and explore their own hands.

What seems incredibly simple to adults is actually an important developmental milestone for newborns learning body awareness and hand control. We would put these on him before dinner time, he used to not let us eat but these now keep him happily distracted.

Wooden Book

This was one of our personal favorites.

The wooden pages are durable, beautifully made, and easy for little hands to explore. It quickly became part of our daily routine, especially during quiet moments together.

We’re Awake Board Book

As a mom who spends plenty of time feeding a baby in the middle of the night, I appreciated having books specifically geared toward those early newborn moments.

Silicone Rattle with Removable Ball

Simeon absolutely loves this toy!

The lightweight design makes it easy for babies to grasp, while the sound encourages them to connect movement with cause and effect. It remains one of the toys he consistently reaches for.

The Charmer Play Kit Review (3-4 Months)

Once Simeon reached three months, we transitioned into The Charmer Play Kit.

This kit focuses on supporting emerging strength, social awareness, coordination, and sensory exploration as babies become increasingly engaged with the world around them.

Wearable Rattles

These attach to wrists or ankles and encourage babies to move their bodies intentionally. Every kick or arm movement creates sound, helping babies understand cause and effect. It’s also so adorable to watch his pudgy smooshy little legs kick and kick! He gets so much delight out of the gentle bell sounds.

Wooden Rattle

Simple, classic, and surprisingly effective.

The wooden rattle helps babies learn to track sounds while practicing grasping skills.

Grab & Shake Rattle Ball

This has become another favorite in our house.

The lightweight design makes it easy for little hands to hold, and the gentle sound encourages movement and exploration. It also reinforces cause and effect as babies begin intentionally shaking objects.

First Colors Cards

As babies begin developing their color vision, these cards introduce foundational colors in a simple, age-appropriate way.

Framed Mirror

Babies are endlessly fascinated by faces, including their own, and Simeon is no exception! He loves looking in mirrors and giggling at his reflection. He also coos and talks to it endlessly. We love making funny faces in it together.

The framed mirror encourages visual engagement and self-discovery while remaining durable enough for everyday use.

Silicone Triple Teether & Organic Teething Cloth

Even before active teething begins, babies explore the world through their mouths. Different textures help support sensory exploration and oral motor development.

Rolling Bell

This is another toy Simeon loves.

The gentle sound combined with movement encourages babies to coordinate what they see, hear, and feel simultaneously. We also walk around the house with it because it soothes him when he gets fussy.

Soft Book

The soft book introduces tactile experiences through various textures and materials. It encourages babies to connect touch and visual exploration in a way that traditional books cannot.

Crinkle Bag

I don’t know what it is about crinkly sounds, but babies seem universally obsessed.

The crinkle bag helps babies experiment with sound production while reinforcing cause and effect. I put it on Simeon’s belly during play time and he has so much fun grabbing it and lifting it.

Hand-to-Hand Discs

These discs support motor skill development and cross-body coordination as babies begin transferring objects between hands. We haven’t quite mastered this one yet, but he’s having fun putting it in his mouth!

Is My Baby Feeling Sleepy? Board Book

As someone trying to establish healthy sleep routines, I appreciated another book that supports predictable bedtime habits and connection. Simeon also loves looking and laughing at the pictures of the baby in the book.

How Lovevery Fits Into Our Daily Routine

One thing I didn’t anticipate was how often we would actually use these toys.

Many baby products get used a handful of times before ending up forgotten in a basket somewhere.

Lovevery has been different.

Several times throughout the day, Simeon and I rotate through tummy time, visual tracking activities, sensory play, reading, and independent exploration using the toys from his current Play Kit.

Because everything is designed for his specific developmental stage, I never feel like I’m guessing whether an activity is appropriate or beneficial.

The toys have become a natural part of our daily rhythm.

Is Lovevery Worth It?

This is probably the question most parents are asking.

My answer is, yes!

Could you theoretically piece together similar toys yourself?

Maybe.
