As summer begins to wind down, I’m excited to introduce a new ongoing series on the blog, where I’ll be recapping my monthly highlights. August was filled with so many memorable moments, from stylish outings and trying new fashion trends, to savoring the last warm days before fall. This series will give you a peek into my favorite experiences each month, along with some style inspiration and a few lifestyle tips I've picked up along the way.
Hiking in The Ohio Plains
Sometimes, I get stuck in my routine and find myself spending days at home without venturing out. This isn't great for my mental or physical health, especially since I'm managing LADA type 1 diabetes. The delayed diagnosis led to severe nerve damage in my hands, which can be incredibly painful and often makes it difficult to stay motivated to exercise. However, I've found that light exercise not only alleviates some of this pain but is also crucial for my recovery. My doctors are optimistic that I can repair the damage over time, and I've already noticed improvements compared to a year ago.
Recognizing the importance of staying active, I decided to make a conscious effort to get out and move, even when it's tough. I know that many of us struggle with mental health, be it depression, anxiety, or dealing with chronic pain, and it can feel daunting to push through those challenges. That's why I decided to take a little trip out of Columbus and explore some hiking trails with my two dogs. It was the perfect way to break the cycle of being indoors and to enjoy the beauty of nature.
We started with a five-mile hike at a state park I'd never visited before. The day was absolutely gorgeous, and the fresh air and exercise were just what I needed. There was even a rumor about wild buffalo in the area, which added an element of excitement to the day—especially since my dogs are fed a diet that includes bison meat! It felt so good to be out there, moving my body, and I hope this post inspires you to do the same. Whether you're dealing with mental health struggles, chronic pain, or just feeling stuck, getting outside and taking a walk can make a world of difference.
Lunch Dates & Cute Fits
I recently had the pleasure of spending a peaceful afternoon in the city, and these photos perfectly capture the vibe. I chose to wear a light blue maxi dress that flows beautifully as I move, paired with a crochet-knit cardigan that adds a touch of femininity without feeling too formal. The soft colors and textures made me feel both comfortable and put-together, perfect for a day out that was all about relaxation and enjoying the moment.
The setting really added to the experience. I love how the vibrant flowers and tropical plants in the wooden planters created a lush, calming backdrop. The combination of natural greenery and modern architecture around me made it feel like I was in a little oasis in the middle of the city. My woven sandals were the ideal choice for walking around—they're stylish but still comfortable enough for a long day on my feet.
One of the highlights of the day was sitting down for a refreshing drink at a cozy, open-air restaurant. The ambiance at Hudson29 was just what I needed—relaxed and inviting. I kept my accessories minimal with some delicate jewelry, allowing the outfit to be the main focus. This look really captured how I like to dress: effortlessly chic with a focus on comfort, perfect for savoring the simple pleasures of life.
Cincinnati Open Tennis Tournament
Attending the first weekend of the Cincinnati Open 2024 was an absolute blast, and the new upgrades to the venue made the experience even better. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the event organizers had gone all out this year. The updated seating was more comfortable, the food options were more diverse, and the overall atmosphere felt more luxurious and exciting. My cousin and I had amazing seats with a perfect view of the courts, but we ended up spending more time exploring all the new features than actually watching tennis.
We wandered through the upgraded shopping areas, where we couldn't resist picking up a few stylish souvenirs. The expanded dining options were also a highlight—we indulged in everything from gourmet bites to refreshing cocktails. Even though we missed a few matches, we had so much fun just soaking in the energy of the event and enjoying our time together. It was a perfect mix of tennis, fashion, and food, and I can't wait to do it all again next year!
Spending a Day Living in my European Summer Aesthetic Pinterest Board
One late summer day, I fully embraced my European summer Pinterest aesthetic, and let me tell you, it was everything I dreamed it would be. I spent a sun-drenched afternoon wandering the brick lined streets of German Village, stopping for espresso at quaint cafes, and of course, snapping photos along the way. These photos were taken on the Scioto Mile promenade. My chic two-piece set from Cupshe was the perfect companion for this adventure. The breezy fabric kept me cool while the stylish design made me feel effortlessly put-together. Whether I was exploring charming villages or lounging by the sea, this outfit was my go-to for capturing that quintessential European vibe.
Lunch at My Husband’s Restaurant
Lunch at my husband’s restaurant, Homestead Beer Co., was such a lovely experience! We decided to enjoy the beautiful day by sitting outside under the striped umbrellas, which added a chic and cozy vibe to the atmosphere. The outdoor seating area is one of my favorite spots, perfect for a casual yet stylish lunch. I couldn’t resist ordering the fish sandwich, which is one of my go-to dishes. The crispy fish paired with the perfectly golden fries hit the spot, making it a meal worth savoring.
For the occasion, I chose a simple yet polished outfit that matched the relaxed yet refined setting. My white button-up blouse was a light and airy choice, ideal for the warm weather, while the denim midi skirt added a touch of casual elegance. I love the front slit in the skirt—it gives it a modern edge and keeps it from feeling too basic. To complete the look, I paired the outfit with some espadrille wedges, adding just the right amount of height and sophistication.
The atmosphere at the restaurant was buzzing with a mix of locals and visitors, all enjoying the laid-back vibe. There's something about dining at a place that feels both familiar and fresh, especially when it's run by someone you love. It was a perfect way to spend the afternoon, indulging in great food, soaking up the sun, and just enjoying the little moments that make summer so special.
